A copy of this release information is available as a downloadable PDF.

Product Distribution Media

New eventACTION and ussACTION releases can now be ordered on CD as well as on the traditional 3480 media. If you choose to receive the products on CD, the unloaded distribution data sets will be on the same CD as the documentation for the products. Please specify your choice of distribution media when ordering the products.

FDR Interface

NEW FEATURE: The eventACTION FDR interface, previously available as a Beta, is now generally available. The interface provides the ability to:

  • track volume level changes; and
  • track and control data set level changes
made using the FDR, FDRDSF, FDRABR and FDRCOPY programs. Refer to the eventACTION Planning & Installation Guide for details.

Global Automatic Scheduling Options

ENHANCEMENT:  The region size that is specified on the Reporting options for automatic scheduling (Option R under the Automatic Scheduling Parameters within the Global Options) has been changed so that a value suffixed with an M or a K may be specified to indicate Megabytes or Kilobytes respectively.

Previous versions limited a megabyte value to 999 but now it can be as high as 2047M in accordance with IBM's JCL specifications. The field has been extended to eight characters to accommodate values of 0M to 2047M or 0K to 2096128K.  The default value is 0M. If omitted, the M or K will be appended automatically according to the numerical value specified; refer to the help panel for details.

External Logging

Subtype 12 has been added to record changes to “Command Tracking & Control” definitions.

Change Requests

The use of the REINIT command is now disallowed for a change request against which at least one change was made.

Command Tracking

You can now specify a user group name for notifying users when a command is issued.  This is in addition to the four userids you can define for notifications on the “Options for Command” panel.

The notification messages are sent using email.  Please add the desired userids to the user group to be notified.  Also, make sure that the userids are defined to eventACTION (using command UL on the eventACTION primary panel) and that an email address is provided for each user.

Change Distribution

The "Use LULU" option level has been removed at the data set level. The value specified at the Default Parms level now controls all transmissions. If you specify YES for this option in the Default Parms, then LULU will be used for all transmissions, meaning that you cannot mix transmit jobs and LULU.

Compare Utility (Online)

A new display option has been added on the main Compare Utility panel to allow or prevent the issuing of warning messages.  The new option is called "Warning Messages". Specify "YES" to see the warning messages as they have always been produced in the past, or "NO" to prevent them from being issued.

Reports

A new report, the Directory and File Option Summary, has been added to ussACTION. This report summarizes the options set at each of the change tracking levels under ussACTION, i.e. Global Dataset Options, OID options, Directory options and File options.

A new set of eventACTION audit reports are now available:

  • Global Parms
  • Excludes Table
  • Blackout Table
  • Global Dataset Options
  • OID Options
  • Dataset Options
  • Member Overrides
  • User Group
  • Command Tracking

Reference Tracking

Prior to 7.05, even if the execution of a module is rejected by PXC, RT will record a reference count if the module is fetched from a library defined to RT. A new parmlib MZCPRMxx option, RT_REJ_BY_PXC, has now been added. If this option is set to NO (RT_REJ_BY_PXC=NO) then RT will not record a reference if the execution of a module is rejected by PXC.

ussACTION

Support has been added to handle 64 bit callers for USS callable services (OPEN, CLOSE, CHMOD, CHOWN, UNLINK).
