Release 6.09

June 30, 2003

Emails Sent by Change Action using SMTP

ENHANCEMENT: Change Action now supports delivery of email messages via NJE in sites with multiple images that do not run SMTP on all images. To enable this support:

  • Ensure that SMTP is running on at least one of your MVS systems
  • Ensure that the SMTP configuration file includes the GATEWAY statement, and that sysout from other NJE nodes can reach the system running SMTP
  • In Change Action Global Option H (“List of Hosts” panel), for each host specify the JES node name of the system on which SMTP is running

Change Requests

ENHANCEMENT: “User(s) who can also make changes” now supports the use of RACF group names. Previously, on the SUMM panel for a change request, you could specify the userid or User Group Id of user(s) who can also make changes against a change request. You can now provide a RACF group name in this field.

If the default RACF group for a user making a change is the same as the RACF Group specified in the related change request, then the user will be allowed to make the change.

NOTE: Only the default RACF group name for the user is checked against this field. If the user is not part of the specified RACF group, then Change Action's User Group is checked. This change should not affect existing Change Action users.

USS Reference Tracking Reports (Beta)

There are two new reports for USS Reference Tracking:

  • URF - USS File Reference Statistics Summary
  • URU - USS Files User Reference Statistics

NOTE: This feature is currently under Beta test and is subject to further change. Please notify Action Software International if you wish to test this feature, and provide feedback regarding the results of your testing.

Batch Scan Utility (Beta)

A new batch utility program has been provided to scan online volumes looking for datasets which contain member names that are defined in RTM (Reference Tracking by Member). Sample JCL for this utility can be found in prefix.CNTL(SAMPSCAN).

NOTE: This feature is currently under Beta test and is subject to further change. Please notify Action Software International if you wish to test this feature, and provide feedback regarding the results of your testing.

Reference Tracking At Dataset Level (RTDS)

Most of RTDS has been rewritten to improve performance.

Program Execution Tracking (PET)

Changes have been made to improve the performance of updating the reference counts in the database. This improvement will be noticeable when the number of members in the database is in the tens of thousands.

Background Panel (List Of Functions)

Fixes have been made for the “REName” and “REPeat” line commands.

On new entries, the “Userid” field can be modified.

OID panel

ENHANCEMENT: Primary command “SORT SIZE” will now sort all the rows in the table. This is the same as issuing “DO SIZE” and “SORT SIZE” before.
