Release 6.04

May 31, 2001

Change Request

ENHANCEMENT: Now you can select Change Requests (on the List of Change Requests panel) using the selection criteria for data provided in User Fields. To avoid re-entering the selection criteria each time you use Option C, you can build Selection Templates and provide the name of a Template on the List of Change Requests panel.

To build one or more Selection Templates, use command UFSEL on the List of Change Requests panel.

ENHANCEMENT: To assist new users of Change Requests, a short guide is displayed whenever Option C is used. You may use the option on the panel showing the guide to not show the guide automatically in future. After the the first time, if you wish to display the guide, then use command GU on the List of Change Requests panel.

CHANGE: Now if you are creating a new Change Request Template, the Mandatory Panels are not mandatory. They will not be displayed automatically.

Command Tracking and Control

CHANGE: The tracking and control is accomplished by intercepting the commands before they are handled by the system. If you have defined command REPLY and if a REPLY contains a password, the log data contains the password instead of SUPPRESSED. A change has been made in 6.04 to show the full REPLY command only to a Global Administrator.

Reference Tracking

PROBLEM: Whenever a PDSE load library is present in a JOBLIB, STEPLIB or TASKLIB, the execution of any module from either the JOBLIB, STEPLIB or TASKLIB is not tracked since no BLDL is issued by contents supervision in this case.

RESOLUTION: A change has been made in 6.04 to track the execution of regular load modules or program objects even if a PDSE load library is present in the JOBLIB, STEPLIB or TASKLIB.

Batch Volume Compare Utility

CHANGE: All HFS files are bypassed under the volume compare facility.

CHANGE: If a return code 12 or higher is encountered in the compare of a pair of data sets, a trace will be printed under the same class as the MSGCLASS value (i.e. SYSOUT=*) and a message in the MZCPRINT file will indicate which trace file applies to the pair of data sets.

ENHANCEMENT: Prior to this release, when a group of data sets on one volume is compared to a group of data sets on another volume, either in the same changeplex or across two changeplexes, only data sets whose names match exactly are compared.

With this release, symbolic parameters have been provided which allow you to equate different qualifiers or strings of characters so that a group of data sets with one set of names may be compared to an equivalent group of data sets on a different volume with different names. The parameters are DQUAL1 through DQUAL9 and when they are specified in any Data Set Name option, they are preceded and followed by the # character.

For example:

DSN1=SYS1.#DQUAL1#.* DQUAL1=(SITE1,SITE2)

This will compare SYS1.SITE1.PARMLIB to SYS1.SITE2.PARMLIB and similarly other data sets satisfying the mask.

Please refer to the sample JCL in the CNTL library, member SAMPVCMP. The format of the REPDSN report file summarizing the data sets compared has been changed to reflect this enhancement.

Create Batch Job from Change Statistics using SKEL JCL

NEW FEATURE: A new option (a hidden option from the Primary Selection panel) is available for scheduling a batch job to build a Transmit Job using the skeleton JCL provided by the user. The Transmit Job may be for NDM, BDT, etc. or it may be just an IEBCOPY job.

The data set/member names in the Transmit job are determined by using Change Stats records of Change Action. Optionally, the Transmit Job may be placed in a data set, which can be submitted manually multiple times, i.e. for multiple sites.

Note: This feature is currently under Beta test and is subject to further change. Please notify Action Software International if you wish to test this feature, and provide feedback regarding the results of your testing.
